Did you spot the ball from this classic moment in football history?
In issue 03 of Eight by Eight, we asked readers to find something that was missing: the ball in this photo from the 1955 FA Cup final between Manchester City and Newcastle United at Wembley Stadium, England.
The photo depicts Vic Keeble, Newcastle’s center forward (third from left), as he tries to head a cross past Bert Trautmann, the legendary Manchester City goalkeeper. Dave casino online Ewing, City’s center half (second from left), does his best to intercept the ball. Newcastle had taken an early lead when Tyneside hero Jackie Milburn scored after 45 seconds, making the record for fastest goal in a cup final. Jimmy Meadows, one of City’s fullbacks, is stretchered off after 22 minutes with a bad leg injury and, as substitutes were not used in English football until 1967, Newcastle went on to win 3-1.
Our photoshop wizards removed the ball from the photo, but below you can see where it’s headed — just wide of the net.
Thanks for playing!
